Interview with a Touch of ‘Grace’

This week’s blog post features the wonderful Summer Schriner of Grace Boutique in Old Town. We stopped in and chatted with her about her ideas of branding that special day.

RD I Do: If you were to get married, what would your wedding day look like?

Summer Schriner: If I were to get married, my wedding would be simple, classic, and elegant.

RD: What kind of themes, or color schemes are you thinking for that?

SS: Simple, muted metalics. I think that the muted tones pair well with the metals, and have a delicate feel. I think if that is carried through with the stationary, and flowers, and favors, it would be really beautiful. I would love for the bridesmaid dresses to be bias cut silk (one of my favorite stylings), and then similarly toned ribbons could be used elsewhere in the decorations. Of course, this would probably be an exotic melange with some of my man’s ideas mixed in.

RD: You’ve said simple a lot. Is there a reason for that?

Selection of Jewelry from Grace Boutique.SS: So many people rush about and things can get a bit too intense and fussy for my tastes.I would want my wedding to be more focused on the couple. I think the branding can add to the overall experience and guests will focus on the couple and enjoy the wedding more. It’s like well placed music in a movie. You might not notice it if it is done right, but if it is missing, you can tell right away!

Decorative headpiece from Grace Boutique.RD: What pieces from Grace Boutique would be great for a wedding?

SS: We have so many great pieces of jewelry. Crystal earrings, crystal hairpieces, necklaces, and a few rings too. We have some beautiful veiling and fascinator hats and a handful of great dresses that are more on the side of shorter and non-traditional, for the ladies having simpler weddings, beach weddings, or perhaps a second wedding. Another favorite are the Minimergency Kits (for bride, mothers-of, bridesmaids, and for him) that have a lot of essentials and fixes for those things that pop up.

RD
: Any other thoughts?

Minimergency Kits available at Grace Boutique.SS: From my experience, branding is so important. From a business standpoint, you want to brand your business for a unified message for your consumer. When you dress in the morning, you assert who you are, and that creates a brand for you. Branding your wedding day asserts who you and your partner are. And what a great way to start off on the right foot.

Grace Boutique is located at 115 East Grand River in Old Town and are open from 10 to 7, Monday through Saturday, and Noon to 5 on Sunday. Visit OldTownGrace.com for more information.

HOW? Successful companies use logos to associate a product with their brand. Creating a stylized look and feel for your day is the equivalent of making your own wedding day logo. Consider a monogrammed crest or artistic combination of your names to adorn your save-the-dates, invitations, and table markers so that a consistent thread will lead your guests right up to your big day. Gifts for your wedding party and favors for your guests would hold added sentimental value for recipients when adorned with a personal reminder of you and your fiance.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER The goal of your wedding day is to have your guests see what you and your loved one represent together. By personalizing the colors, details, and appearance that you want to illustrate, you are well on your way to branding your wedding day. In order to maintain the quality of your wedding, it is important to not be too excessive with your branding. Keep it simple while obtaining your desired look and feel.  At Rd I Do, our specialization is branding your wedding day, let us help you personalize your day to be an ideal reflection of you and your beau.

How would you brand your wedding day?

Branding Your Day: A Surf and Turf Wedding

Part of making your big day distinctly you is blending what is important to you and your groom-to-be. RD I Do specializes in branding your wedding day—our goal is to tailor your wedding day to the unique interests and quirks that make your relationship special. So why not personalize your big day to reflect the unique things about each other that made you fall in love?

Let’s say he loves being outdoors—be it to hunt, fish, hike, or camp. His outdoorsy, adventurous spirit is what drew you to him.

And you? Let’s say you love tropical vacations to beachfront destinations. You have always dreamt of incorporating the ocean and beach into your wedding, but do not want to disregard your groom-to-be’s interests. We are here to assist you in combining both of your passions and interests into one spectacular event.

A “Surf and Turf” themed wedding is the perfect embodiment of the mixed outdoorsy interests of an adventurous couple. By personalizing your save-the-dates, invitations, programs, table markers, and favors, RD I Do can bring the “Surf and Turf” wedding from conceptualization to reality. Consider inflatable beach balls as wedding favors with your names imprinted on them so that the next time your guests are out enjoying the great outdoors, they can be reminded of the happy couple and all the fun they had at your wedding. Your invitations could engage guests by resembling a tent with openable flaps and a picture of you two on a camping trip inside. For your table markers, alternate between the “Surf” and the “Turf” theme with a distinct icon or font on each marker that is reminiscent of the different themes.

This is just one of the infinite branding concepts Rd I Do can personalize for you. As simple or as extravagant as you would like your wedding planning and celebration to be, we are here to brand and personalize your day to make it the perfect reflection of you and your beloved.
