This week’s blog post features the wonderful Summer Schriner of Grace Boutique in Old Town. We stopped in and chatted with her about her ideas of branding that special day.
RD I Do: If you were to get married, what would your wedding day look like?
Summer Schriner: If I were to get married, my wedding would be simple, classic, and elegant.
RD: What kind of themes, or color schemes are you thinking for that?
SS: Simple, muted metalics. I think that the muted tones pair well with the metals, and have a delicate feel. I think if that is carried through with the stationary, and flowers, and favors, it would be really beautiful. I would love for the bridesmaid dresses to be bias cut silk (one of my favorite stylings), and then similarly toned ribbons could be used elsewhere in the decorations. Of course, this would probably be an exotic melange with some of my man’s ideas mixed in.
RD: You’ve said simple a lot. Is there a reason for that?
SS: So many people rush about and things can get a bit too intense and fussy for my tastes.I would want my wedding to be more focused on the couple. I think the branding can add to the overall experience and guests will focus on the couple and enjoy the wedding more. It’s like well placed music in a movie. You might not notice it if it is done right, but if it is missing, you can tell right away!
RD: What pieces from Grace Boutique would be great for a wedding?
SS: We have so many great pieces of jewelry. Crystal earrings, crystal hairpieces, necklaces, and a few rings too. We have some beautiful veiling and fascinator hats and a handful of great dresses that are more on the side of shorter and non-traditional, for the ladies having simpler weddings, beach weddings, or perhaps a second wedding. Another favorite are the Minimergency Kits (for bride, mothers-of, bridesmaids, and for him) that have a lot of essentials and fixes for those things that pop up.
RD: Any other thoughts?
SS: From my experience, branding is so important. From a business standpoint, you want to brand your business for a unified message for your consumer. When you dress in the morning, you assert who you are, and that creates a brand for you. Branding your wedding day asserts who you and your partner are. And what a great way to start off on the right foot.
